Repeatedly calling it genocide doesn’t make it genocide

Repeatedly calling it genocide doesn’t make it genocide

Israel isn't trying to eliminate an entire people - just the terrorist group, Hamas.

There was a time when the term ‘genocide’ epitomised the very definition of ‘atrocity’. It described the Killing Fields of Cambodia where almost 2 million were murdered by the Khmer Rouge between 1975 and 1979; the slaughter of over 1 million Armenians between 1915 and 1916; the Rwandan massacre in 1994, during which up to 800,000 Tutsi were killed by Hutu militias; the murder of at least 3.5 million Ukrainians between 1932 and 1933 in the infamous Holodomor Genocide – and the event which defines the term – the murder of 6 million Jews in the Nazi Death camps of WW2.

But those atrocities happened during another era at a time when the nations of the world acted based on principles of justice and decency, not political expediency.

Now, the world has forgotten what constitutes ‘genocide; and throws the word around as a slur in the same way as we might use the terms ‘Nazi’ or fascist’ – oblivious to its horrific meaning and the history of these real genocides in our recent history.

So let’s be clear, Israel is NOT committing Genocide – nor anything close to it – and repeating that claim, ad nauseum, does not somehow make it true. So if you’re using that word in relation to the conflict in Gaza I’d invite you to consider the following:

▶️Israel isn’t trying to eliminate an entire people – just the terrorist group, Hamas. That focus has never changed

▶️In any war there are civilian casualties – but the ratio of those in Gaza is lower than any comparable conflict in modern history

▶️The civilian mortality numbers quoted by media are simply false. ALL of the claimed mortality numbers are coming from only one side – the Hamas controlled Gaza Health Ministry – and a recent independent report exposed massive fraud in those numbers. This included widespread alteration of genders to portray men as women, changing of ages to portray adults as children, presenting combatants as civilians, and the portrayal of up to 5,000 natural deaths (from cancer etc) as civilian victims of the IDF (link)

▶️’Genocide’ is clearly defined in international law and that definition does not describe what is happening in Gaza. For this reason, nations and International bodies have simply ignored that definition and invented their own – or have asked the International Court of Justice to CHANGE that definition in order to give their obscene claims more weight (as Ireland did recently)

▶️Media routinely misrepresent strikes on Hamas terrorists as attacks on ‘medical staff’ or ‘journalists’ in order to skew public opinion

▶️The population of Gaza has INCREASED by over 500% since 1948

If you can read this list and still cling to the claim of ‘genocide’, shame on you, because it tells me that your use of that word isn’t based on a desire for justice and a passion for the Palestinian people – it’s based on the same old revolting antisemitism and hatred of Jews that has plagued the world for over 2,000 years…
