The Māori delegation to Israel
What really happened?
Over the past couple of weeks, you may have seen some of the controversy surrounding a recent Māori delegation to Israel.
Much of the media coverage has been negative, raising questions about the purpose of the trip, who funded it, what the delegates experienced, and whether some participants were unhappy with the visit.
But one important voice has been largely missing from the discussion – that of Yifat Goddard, the Israeli New Zealander who actually organised the trip.
Yifat is a friend of mine, and yesterday she agreed to sit down with me for an extended interview in which I asked some pretty direct questions about the visit, the allegations, the media coverage, and what actually took place.
The interview is an opportunity to hear Yifat’s account firsthand, put some important facts on the record, and gain a better understanding of what really happened.
I encourage you to click the image and watch the video in order to make up your own mind about what really happened.
(by the way – despite having appeared in countless interviews and podcasts over the years, it’s been a very long time since I’ve actually hosted one, so please forgive the learning curve – especially the dreadful lighting, which I’ll definitely be fixing next time!)
